Gidi Stein, MD PhD – Co-Founder and CEO
Gidi is a practicing physician, researcher and serial entrepreneur. Early in his career, Gidi served as CTO and Chief Architect of several algorithm-rich startup companies in Israel. In 2002, Gidi graduated from Tel Aviv University Medical School and later specialized in internal medicine, treating patients and teaching students and residents in one of Israel’s largest hospitals. Gidi received a PhD in Computational Biology from Tel Aviv University, harnessing mathematical and biological models to help fight breast cancer. In 2012 Gidi co-founded MedAware, utilizing machine learning algorithms to eliminate prescription errors and promote patient safety.
Tuvik Beker, PhD – Co-Founder and Executive Chairman
Tuvik has 15 years of experience in the IT industry. He has served in roles of VP, chairman, and CEO and as an independent algorithmic consultant to organizations ranging from VC-backed startups to market-leading corporations. Tuvik brings to MedAware a unique combination of rich entrepreneurial experience, academic expertise in artificial intelligence, and hands-on experience in algorithmic development.
Prof. Eyal Schiff, MD
Eyal is Professor of Medicine and Chairman of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Sheba Medical Center. He is a renowned expert in the field of high risk obstetrics, with numerous publications in international obstetric literature. Prof. Schiff became a professor at Tel Aviv University at the age of 41 and was elected to his current role at the age of 45. Eyal is an active and experienced investor in the technology sector, focusing primarily on healthcare-related companies.
Ziv Ofek, Founder of dbMotion, is the originator of the dbMotion concept of clinical information integration and semantic interoperability that includes advanced applications and tools for coordinated care and population management. In 2013, Allscripts Healthcare Solutions has acquired dbMotion for $235 million. Ziv’s expertise in the field of medical informatics covers a wide range of areas, both in theory and in practice, including in-depth understanding of the different approaches and initiatives in multiple international markets in the field of clinical data integration and semantics. Mr. Ofek has a B.Sc. in Industrial Management Engineering, specializing in Information Systems, from Ben-Gurion University in Beer-Sheva, Israel.
Yoav is a private investor in technology and private equity ventures, with experience in both public and private sectors in various international markets.
Prof. Isaac Kohane, MD PhD
Isaac (Zak) Kohane is the director of the Children’s Hospital Informatics Program and is the Henderson Professor of Pediatrics and Health Sciences and Technology at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He is also the Co-director of the HMS Center for Biomedical Informatics and Director of the HMS Countway Library of Medicine. Dr. Kohane leads multiple collaborations at HMS and its hospital affiliates in the use of genomics and computer science to study diseases (particularly cancer and autism) through the perspective of biological development. He also has developed several computer systems to allow multiple hospital systems to be used as “living laboratories” to study the genetic basis of disease while preserving patient privacy. Among these, the i2b2 (Informatics for Integrating Biology and the Bedside) National Computing Center has been deployed at over 52 academic health centers internationally.
Dr. Michal Preminger, PhD MBA
Michal Preminger is the Executive Director of the Office of Technology Development at Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining Harvard, she held a number of business development and technology development positions at Compugen, most recently as Vice President of Protein Therapeutics, responsible for the business management of the company’s emerging drug discovery pipeline. Previously, Michal held several marketing and business development positions in the hi-tech industry, among others for Lucent Technologies. Michal also co-founded Anima Cell Metrology, a biotechnology startup focused on the real-time identification of proteins as they are synthesized in living cells.
Tina Gellman, PharmD
Tina has over 25 years of experience in the United States health care industry managing pharmacy benefits. Her experience in health care extends across payors, vendors, and providers working for Medicare Pharmacy Drug Plans (PDP), Health Plans, Pharmacy Benefits Managers (PBM), Specialty and Retail Pharmacies, as well as Hospital Systems. Tina holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from California State University in Long Beach, a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Southern California and has completed a postdoctoral residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
